Our Tennis Stars holiday plans 🎅

Â
In the lead-up to Christmas,  let’s take a look at what your favourite players are up to for the holiday season. Whilst there may not be any tournaments until the Aussie season kicks off in 2022, there is no rest for the pros!
Fan favourite Alex Zverev shared a reel to his Instagram showing him in action during his second week of pre-season training in Monte Carlo before jetting back home to Germany for the Athletes of the Year Awards. The festive season also saw another young star, Felix Auger-Aliassime, spending well-earned quality time in Monte Carlo with his girlfriend.
Â
After a year of travelling and tournaments, it’s no surprise that some players are opting for a bit of rest and relaxation. Casper Ruud enjoyed some swimming and sunshine in the Maldives, with Elina Svitolina also basking in the warmer weather in the Canary Islands. Other players have opted to enjoy some cooler weather, with Hubi Hurkaz hitting the slopes for some skiing, Petra Kvitova heading home to Prague to enjoy a white Christmas and Aryna Sabalenka making the most of the silly season by skating up a storm in Moscow. Garbine Muguruza headed to Marbella in Spain and is keeping up her tennis by having a hit with her brothers. Karolina Pliskova also travelled to Marbella, Spain but unfortunately is still recovering from surgery on her hand.

Also getting into the spirit of Christmas, Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, has been promoting a campaign launched by the Novak Djokovic Foundation for the holidays. Supported by the hashtag #OneWishForNis, Novak and his wife have decided to match any donation received for the construction of a preschool in the Serbian city of Nis. World number 2, Daniil Medvedev, has also joined in on the festivities, auctioning off a signed racquet, before getting in some pre-season training at Mouratoglou Academy.

Other players sharing their pre-season training to social media include Jannick Sinner, at home in Tyrol, Barbora Krejickova and Dominic Thiem in Dubai and Maria Sakkari hitting the gym with her trainer. Our very own Ash Barty is back on home turf, getting in some training is the Brissy sun and finishing it off with some Vegemite! You could not get more Australian than that!

Here at TennisGear, whilst our lessons are on pause for the Christmas break, we had some happening holiday camps last week! Our December clinics were a great success with over 700 children participating from Monday to Friday across 5 of our centres. The holiday camps are a fantastic way to make new friends, while learning a little something along the way. It did get very warm on court though throughout the day, so we made sure to take plenty of water breaks between different games and drills! Our coaches said that this year’s groups of budding tennis champions were one of the best yet!
We offer clinics during every school holiday, so if you missed out this time, ask us in store about when the next camps are taking place or give us a call at any of our centres!Â

Merry Christmas to you and your family from all of us here at TennisGear! We hope you have a lovely break spent well with loved ones, good times and good food!
